Abstract: Coordinated by María Zozaya-Montes, this monograph focuses on local, modest, everyday heritage generated by communities. Those patrimonies that were produced for generations by sociability relationships, were responsible for immaterial inheritances and tangible pieces that represented the symbolic world of beliefs. From these structures of relationship and daily socialization, patrimonial forms have emerged that want to be protected in a broad sense since the international declaration of the Charter of Porto Santo, which was promoted by Portugal during its presidency of the European Union. With this philosophy uniting the book, the main person in charge of the National Plan for the Arts in Portugal, its commissioner Paulo Pires do Vale, was commissioned to write its prologue, in his mission to disseminate the democratic principles of Porto Santo charter throughout Portugal. |
