Abstract: | This is a collective publication under the editorial coordination of Clara Frayão Camacho. The publication presents overall findings from the research carried out along 1,5 year by the Future Museums Project Group. It considers a sample of 37 museums, palaces and monuments under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture. It analyses current trends in society with impact in museums and cultural heritage (trust and wellbeing, changes in demographics, tourism, digital technologies, participation, and sustainability). The investigation resulted in an updated account of current indicators that characterize the analyzed sample of 37 museums, palaces and monuments. Based on the findings, the publication outlines 50 recommendations and proposals to be considered for public policies in the horizon of 2030, addressing five main thematic axes: management, networks and partnerships, digital transformation, collections management and audiences and mediation. These findings are a tangible resource with relevant value for policy makers as well as for the community of practice of museum and heritage professionals. |
