Conheceu-se a distribuição e ecologia de espécies e subespécies endémicas, nomeadamente Nebria (Tyrrhenia) vanvolxemi Putzeys, 1874, Trechus schaufussi algarvensis Jeanne 1985 e Pterostichus (Oreophilus) paulinoi vanvolxemi Putzeys, 1874; ABSTRACT: The carabids are one of the largest families in the Iberian Peninsula and worldwide. Although many species are generalists, most have habitats preferences with which are closely associated and thereby are often used as indicators of environmental disturbance and land use management. This work aims to know the Carabidae community (Insecta, Coleoptera) of the Natura 2000 Site Serra de Monchique. The Natura 2000 Site Serra de Monchique by its location, the climate and the characteristic geomorphology favor the occurrence of very particular vegetation and fauna. Inserted in the "Green Belt Programme in Southern Portugal" (the Green Belt Project Report, 2002) the Natura 2000 Site Serra de Monchique has biodiversity hotspot site features such as the existence of Endemicity, Rarity and insulation. The main goal was to inventory the species in the study area and map the distribution, as well as knowing ecology and seasonality of adults. Another goals were knowing the composition, the structure of carabid community and understand their interaction with the different landscape units, as well as realize the influence of altitude on distribution. It has been verified the influence of the sampling methods in capturing different types of wing development. A new taxon was identified - Microlestes aljezurensis Ortuño & Oliveira, 2012 and there were two species recorded first time to Portugal - Bembidion (Trepanes) bedelianum Netolizky, 1918 and Sinechostictus (Sinechostictus) dahlii dahlii (Dejean 1831). The distribution and ecology of endemic species and subspecies, like Nebria (Tyrrhenia) vanvolxemi Putzeys, 1874, Trechus schaufussi algarvensis Jeanne 1985 and Pterostichus (Oreophilus) paulinoi vanvolxemi Putzeys, 1874, was known.
