| Abstract: | Abstract – The period of scientific ideology of the end of the 19th century had
a very vast cultural and ideological projection in the western world,
and Portugal. Between different state regimes – Monarchy and Republic
– it is important to analyze discourses of health and medicine and
penetrate in the cultural and scientific formation of the physicians in
Portugal, in order to obtain the answer to a new agenda of Portuguese
historiography: political and scientific periods, which hold many public
